Manchester United secured a place in the Champions League final and a meeting with Barcelona by defeating Schalke 4-1 at Old Trafford to seal a 6-1 aggregate triumph.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson made eight changes to the side that lost to Arsenal with Chelsea in mind on Sunday in a crucial league game.

And the stand-ins did him proud with Antonio Valencia, Darron Gibson and Anderson (2) on target with Jose Manuel Jurado replying for Schalke.
