Tottenham Hotspur have completed some eye-catching deals in the summer transfer window.
Gareth Bale, of course, has returned to the club, stealing every single headline going in the process.
But there have been plenty of other deals strengthening different areas of Jose Mourinho’s squad; Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon, for example, offer new options on both sides of defence.
But perhaps the most important addition is that of Carlos Vinicius.
The striker moves from Benfica on an initial loan deal that can become a permanent transfer should the deal be a success.
Spurs have reportedly paid just under £3m to take Vinicius on a short-term deal, after he scored 24 goals in all competitions last season.
And the deal has been hailed as something of a bargain by former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
Indeed, Benfica were attempting to reach the Champions League group stages but they were beaten by Greek side PAOK in the qualifying rounds, leaving them in need of cash.
And Robinson has hailed the ingenuity of chairman Daniel Levy in striking such a cheap deal.
He told Football Insider: “I think he’s a great signing, I really do.
“They’ve exploited Benfica’s exit from the Champions League and exploited Benfica’s need for cash because of that.
“They’ve bought a top-class player, over 20 goals last season and he’s still only young.
“With Spurs competing on so many fronts this season, you can’t really sell it as back-up to Harry Kane anymore.
“I was there at the Stadium for the Maccabi Haifa game, they had Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and then Manchester United at Old Trafford at the weekend.
“He’s going to get a chance, he’s going to play at least 15 games this season. I think it’s an outstanding signing.
“I think they’ve had a really good window Spurs there’s real optimism and good press around Spurs for the first time in a while.
“I’m really optimistic as to what they can achieve this season.”

This is where Levy thrives.
The Spurs chairman always tries to strike the best possible deal for his club and he has done just that again with this signing.
Harry Kane desperately needed some support after spending season after season as the club’s only real option up front.
Having Vinicius behind him, and potentially up front alongside him, will be a major boon to the England captain, and to Mourinho.
This might just be the best deal of Spurs’ summer. After the deals they pulled off, that’s really saying something.
