Liverpool are in a strong position right now.
After winning both the Champions League and the Club World Championship in 2019, the feeling was that the Reds may have already hit their peak.
In truth, it seemed that they were just getting started.
Jurgen Klopp's side stormed to the Premier League title last term, leaving their rivals in their dust.
The hope for Liverpool fans is that this term can be the same.
The club made some shrewd moves in the transfer market this summer, signing Konstantinos Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota from Olympiacos, Bayern Munich and Wolves respectively.
Compared to the chasing pack, that business represented a relatively modest outlay - an approach which could be deemed as sensible given the ongoing global pandemic.
But that doesn't mean that Liverpool don't have something big up their sleeves.
One player who is being tipped for a big-money move next summer is Dayot Upamecano.
The RB Leipzig defender was valued at around £70million this summer, but with the news emerging of a release clause in his contract it's thought that he could be available for almost half of that next term.
Man United are one club who could be lining up a potential move for him, but the Reds may also be in the race.
The Liverpool Echo's LFC correspondent Paul Gorst was asked about a move for the central defender and said that he wouldn't be surprised if Klopp's side made a move.
Writing in a Q&A for the Liverpool Echo, Gorst said: "Like most of the emerging talents in Europe, I wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool were keeping tabs on the Leipzig defender.
"There's definitely a theory that the transfer budget will be bigger next season.
"He's young and playing for a team who are getting bigger and better all the time, too, so he ticks several boxes."

Valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, a deal for his release clause of £38m represents a major coup and one that could be hugely appealing for Liverpool's hierarchy.
