Bobby Lashley returned to WWE in 2018.
He's now in a pretty good place, sitting in RAW's top heel faction alongside MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander as part of The Hurt Business.
There's no doubt that this storyline is money. But it's taken him quite a long time to arrive in that position.
Since making his comeback two years ago, Lashley has been involved in some rather strange angles.
Notably, his programme with Lana and Rusev - which saw the trio involved in a love triangle - was hated by many fans, who deemed it 'cringeworthy' and 'embarrassing'.
For an established star like Lashley, being put in that position must have been frustrating. But according to the man himself, there's a reason WWE did it.
When speaking to Corey Graves on this week’s episode of 'After The Bell', he explained the company's decision to throw him into uncomfortable storylines.
"For me, I had to figure out 'the why'. A lot of times people don't want to figure out 'the why'," Lashley said.
"I think part of 'the why' for me is when I came back, they wanted people to hate me. But also, I think it's just getting me to loosen up a little bit.
"I trained so long with wrestling and it was always shut up and I trained. I was always a shut up and train type of person.
"I busted my ass and let what I do speak for me. I was a workhorse and I was always a quiet person.
"I think when I came back they said, 'We need to embarrass him enough to break out of his shell'."
See, there was method to the madness. We still hated that Lana storyline, though...
