Tottenham Hotspur have an important run of fixtures coming up.

Jose Mourinho’s side, fresh from beating Manchester United 6-1, have broken up and headed off for international duty with their respective countries.

When they return, though, they will play West Ham United in the Premier League, before beginning their Europa League group stage campaign with a game against Austrian side LASK.

They will need the entirety of their squad, then, as Mourinho looks to balance the form and the fitness of his players.

But it appears that they have suffered a serious blow.

Sergio Reguilon was called up by Spain for games against Portugal, Switzerland, and Ukraine, and started the first game at left-back.

Reguilon, though, was substituted at half-time, with Valencia’s Jose Gaya replacing him.

The Sun have quoted La Roja manager Luis Enrique, who admits that the summer signing, who cost up to £32m, picked up an injury.

He said: “It is a blow that the doctors have to see. I hope it doesn’t get complicated.”

Spurs, of course, loaned Ryan Sessegnon out after signing Reguilon, leaving Ben Davies as their only full-back, should the Spaniard be ruled out for any length of time. Danny Rose is still with the club but he does not have a squad number.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Spurs will be waiting with bated breath to discover the extent of Reguilon’s possible injury.

The left-back has impressed since his signing and any severe lay-off would be a huge blow to Mourinho.

The Portuguese suffered through various injury crises in his first season at the club; Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, Hugo Lloris, and Tanguy Ndombele were all on the sidelines for a length of time.

The hope, then, has to be that Reguilon is either not properly injured, or recovers while with Spain and returns to Hotspur Way fully fit.

Spurs have some real momentum behind them; losing their best left-back would go a long way to curbing it.
