Rooney and Evra will face Chelsea

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra should both be fit for Manchester United's Premier League title showdown with Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Rooney missed training on Tuesday after reporting for duty with a tight hamstring and was not named on the bench for Wednesday night's 4-1 Champions League semi-final win over Schalke while Evra was introduced as a second-half substitute but took a knock that at one point looked set to warrant Ferguson making another change.

But Ferguson told MUTV: "Patrice got a kick. I was ready to substitute him but he said he was OK. Wayne will be all right. I wasn't prepared to take a risk."

Having booked a rematch of their 2009 final with Barcelona, Ferguson knows United will be underdogs for the Wembley showdown on May 28.

The prize for both sides is a fourth trophy, which would take them level with both Bayern Munich and Ajax.

And, even though the Catalans boast an all-star side, including Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, Ferguson does not believe United's chances should be dismissed.

"Everyone is saying we are playing a fantastic team, which we are," said Ferguson.

"But you can't write us off. You can never write Manchester United off."
