When Kylian Mbappe was a child, it was Cristiano Ronaldo that he looked up to.
He had posters of Ronaldo on his bedroom wall, while he also had a picture taken with the Portuguese superstar in his youth.
Mbappe spoke of his admiration for Ronaldo back in 2017.
"He is a hero from my childhood and it was amazing to meet him when I visited Valdebebas," he told Marca, per Goal.
"But I am a competitor and a person who is very competitive and all I want to do is win, win, win. So it doesn't really matter who is in front of us, we want to win.
"I admired him when I was younger, but that ended. Now I go to the Bernabeu to play and to win.
"From someone who has won five Ballons d'Or you can learn a lot. He's a great player, but I have those here too. Neymar is here and I think he is very similar and is at practically the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo. I learn from [Edinson] Cavani as a goalscorer too."
Mbappe is now a superstar in his own right and the two shared the pitch together on Sunday evening as France played Portugal in the Nations League.
And they shared a truly touching moment at half-time.
Ronaldo came over to Mbappe just before the start of the second half, which led to the pair bursting out laughing.

What a lovely moment. We can only imagine what the two were joking about...
It went down very well with football fans on Twitter.
Unfortunately, neither player was able to make a big impact on the game as it ended in a bore 0-0 draw.
Both sides remain locked at the top of Group 3 of the Nations League with seven points accumulated from their opening three games.
