N'Golo Kante endured a frustrating 2019/20 campaign.

With Chelsea unable to strengthen in the transfer market, it was hoped the Frenchman would be a key player for the Blues.

However, he struggled for form and fitness across the season.

In total, he made just 28 appearances in all competitions and didn't hit the heights he enjoyed in previous years.

Despite his poor season, it came as a surprise when reports emerged this summer that Kante could leave the club in the summer.

Frank Lampard and N'Golo Kante at Chelsea

A reunion with former boss Antonio Conte was touted to be on the cards, with the Frenchman reportedly 'open' to a move.

But a move never materialised and Kante stayed put. However, a move in the near future could now be on the cards.

That's because French outlet Le Parisien have reported that Kante and Lampard's relationship is now fractured after a dispute about a wedding.

Kante is reported to have asked Lampard for time off training in order to attend a friend's wedding. The English manager refused this request.

And this decision has reportedly led to anger from Kante, who has 'struggled to accept the situation.'

The report adds that Kante still wants to do his best for Chelsea this season. But there is a feeling he could leave this summer, with Real Madrid his 'dream' move.

N'Golo Kante could leave Chelsea after reportedly falling out with Frank Lampard

GIVEMESPORT'S JAMES STROUD SAYS:

This is a very interesting, and significant piece of transfer news.

If the news is true, it's extremely worrying for Chelsea.

Kante is still among the best midfielders in the world when fully fit. He's still a key player for the club and will be paramount if Chelsea are to challenge for the Premier League title.

But I have my doubts as to the accuracy of this story. First of all, Kante is an extremely nice person. I can't imagine him falling out with anyone.

And secondly, Lampard granted Kante compassionate leave earlier this year due to coronavirus fears. Granted, the situation is a bit different now, but why would he refuse this request and risk upsetting one of his star players?

We won't know the truth until Lampard or Kante take to the media. But it's certainly one to keep an eye out on.
