Leeds United have high hopes for the season ahead.

Last season saw the Whites cruise to promotion from the Championship with a 10-point lead on their nearest rivals West Brom.

This term was expected to be a much sterner challenge, but so far it seems that Marcelo Bielsa's side are taking things in their stride.

Two wins from their opening four games has seen Leeds move themselves into the top half of the table.

While there's still a long way to go, the hope at Elland Road is that Bielsa's group have what it takes to be a real dark horse.

Plenty of credit has to go to the playing squad who got Leeds promoted last term, but Victor Orta and his recruitment team also deserve credit.

As well as signing several talented young players the club have worked hard to add real quality to the ranks.

Robin Koch, Rodrigo, Diego Llorente and Raphinha have certainly upped the level in Bielsa's squad and that should serve the club well.

But while those additions have been made it's likely that some may have to move one.

One players who fits into that category is Barry Douglas.

Reports from The Telegraph have claimed that the full-back could be closing in on a move to Blackburn Rovers.

Douglas has struggled for gametime at Elland Road since arriving at the club with injuries being the main factor.

Since then the former Wolves man has struggled to break back into the first team fold, and with less than a year left on his deal it seems that the writing is on the wall.

Watford are also said to be keen on a move, however Tony Mowbray's side appear to be in the driving seat with Friday's deadline firmly in view.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

It certainly seems that Barry Douglas' days at Elland Road are numbered.

The 31-year-old is undoubtedly a quality player at Championship level, but making the step up to the Premier League looks unlikely to happen.

Opportunities will be limited with Leeds this term and it seems like time for him to move on.

With a contract that expires at the end of the season it's in Leeds' best interests to cash in while they can.

It's also best for Douglas to move on so that he can get his career back on track after a tough couple of years.

There's no doubt that the left-sided player will be a huge asset at Championship level and that's why so many clubs are said to be keen.
