Leeds United have enjoyed quite a summer.

After securing promotion from the Championship the Yorkshire side faced a huge challenge to adapt to life in the top tier.

After all, it's been 16 long years since the Whites were last there.

But reassuringly for supporters the club have hardly looked like being away.

Seven points from four games so far has seen Marcelo Bielsa's side move into the top half of the table, and while the season is still very much in its infancy, the early signs are positive.

A large part of that has been down the club's recruitment, with several key signings already being made.

One position that is yet to be strengthened is between the sticks.

With Illan Meslier lacking experience and Kiko Casilla facing an uncertain future there has been links with Leeds signing a new goalkeeper.

While the domestic deadline is on Friday, Paul Robinson has discussed the prospect of the Whites making a move to sign former Monaco goalkeeper, who is available on a free transfer.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Subasic would be a great signing for Leeds, he’s an outstanding goalkeeper, he was brilliant for Croatia in the World Cup.

“I think he’s a top keeper and the fact he’s still a free agent and that no one has snapped him up yet after he left Monaco is surprising.

“He fits the bill of what’s needed at Leeds – experience, stability, someone you can rely on. I’m very surprised he hasn’t been snapped up yet. Maybe it’s that his agent wants too much money or he’s not fit, I don’t know…

“I’m really surprised a player of his ability is a free agent. Anyone who needs a keeper, he would deliver for them at the moment.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This would certainly be a surprise.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper is undoubtedly a top level stopper after spending eight years with French giants Monaco.

Unfortunately for Leeds I just can't see it happening.

With Illan Meslier and Kiko Casilla competing for the number one jersey it seems unlikely that Subasic will be added to the mix.

The only way that I can see this happening is if Casilla was moved on.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move, and with that it seems more likely that a move to Anfield would be on the cards.
