West Ham United are gearing up for a busy couple of days.

The Irons were preparing for a big summer after a campaign which saw them narrowly avoid relegation in the final knockings of the season.

The hope was that the club would be able to kick on this term and so far we've seen a mixed bag of results that suggests that there is still work to do.

West Ham have signed Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and most recently, Craig Dawson on a loan deal from recently-relegated Watford.

But with just a couple of days remaining in the domestic transfer window it seems that there are still some deals to be done.

The Hammers have been linked with several players in recent weeks, but none more than Said Benrahma.

Brentford's star man is one of the top talents in the Championship at the moment after a sensational season for the Bees.

Benrahma scored 17 goals and racked up nine assists last term, while boasting 25 goal involvements in the season before that.

The Algerian international was integral in taking Thomas Frank's side to the play-off final last term, but with Brentford falling short against Fulham it always seemed that his days at the club were numbered.

Reports have suggested that a deal could be close, however a move to the London Stadium has gone quiet in recent days.

As a result, the Daily Mail have claimed that the 25-year-old is planning talks with Brentford as he looks to force through a move.

It's claimed that West Ham are now prioritising a move for Bournemouth star Josh King, which means that a move to east London may now be off.

But leaving the Bees is not completely off the cards with Crystal Palace also said to be keen on a move.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Said Benrahma is fully deserving of an opportunity to play in the Premier League.

After tearing up the Championship last season the Algerian is more than capable of being a real success in the top flight.

Unfortunately a move is proving troublesome.

Described as 'magical' by Thomas Frank, Benrahma has the sort of quality to changes games in the blink of an eye - something that many teams in the top flight are really lacking.

You could argue that West Ham are a side who need this sort of player more than most.

Valued at just £9.45million by Transfermarkt, a move is likely to cost almost double that and it'll be interesting to see whether a deal can get done before Friday's deadline.
