West Ham United have endured a frustrating summer period.

After narrowly avoiding relegation in the final week of last season the focus at the London Stadium this summer was based on helping the club to move away from this season's basement battle.

Whether that has been done, however, remains to be seen.

As well as a number of high profile departures, the Hammers have completed deals for numerous players this summer such as Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Craig Dawson who arrived on loan from Watford earlier this week.

But the Irons aren't yet finished.

It's been a very mixed start to the season for David Moyes' side so far with the Irons winning two of their four games in the Premier League.

That inconsistency is exactly the reason why West Ham are still looking at further additions.

One player who has been heavily linked with a move to the club is Said Benrahma.

The Brentford star has been heavily tipped for a move to the Premier League after a thoroughly impressive campaign last term which saw him score 17 goals for the play-off finalists.

West Ham have been in talks with the player, however according to fresh reports there is a split at the club over whether a deal is worthwhile.

Bleacher Report have claimed that Moyes 'isn't bothered' about the deal, with the former Man United boss said to have been prioritising the signing of a big-money centre-back.

Whether this impact the completion of a deal remains to be seen.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is a deal that West Ham United really need to complete.

While the Hammers have picked up positive results in their last two games, the feeling is that the Irons could be preparing for a long, hard season.

Compared to their rivals David Moyes' side have endured a frustrating summer that has seen their competition kick on in the transfer market while they add some fairly underwhelming players to the ranks.

Said Benrahma would change that.

Described as 'quality' by Thomas Frank, the Brentford star was an absolute revelation last term and that's why so many clubs were heavily linked with a move this summer.

It's surprising that no deal has been completed up until this point, but West Ham have the opportunity to make a real statement with this one.
