The Undertaker and John Cena were last seen in WWE at WrestleMania 36.

Both legends were involved in brilliant cinematic matches, with The Deadman beating AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match, while Cena lost to 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt in the Firefly Fun House.

For both, it was a very different experience to what they're used to, wrestling in front of no fans in pre-taped bouts.

Even for two giants of the business, that would have been confusing and challenging.

After all, both stars thrive off the reception they receive from a live audience.

The Undertaker is beloved by the entire WWE Universe, while Cena plays off the love-hate relationship he has with many fans.

So, when will we see the pair back? Well, given there's little chance of a live crowd returning anytime soon due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, don't expect to see either just yet.

Cena and Undertaker could make WWE returns

But according to Dave Meltzer, once fans are allowed in, both Cena and Undertaker could be in line for a shock return - perhaps around WrestleMania season.

"I think if there are no fans then there’s no reason to bring [Cena] back," the respected journalist said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

"If there are fans… you know come WrestleMania season they’re gonna talk to John Cena and they’re gonna talk to Undertaker.

Cena and Undertaker will be called by WWE

"I mean it’s just how it is, no matter what they say now. A lot of times those guys come back."

If fans are allowed into the arena for WrestleMania 37 in 2021, you can bet WWE will be stacking the card and there will always be space for Cena and The Undertaker.

The latter, of course, has suggested that he's all but retired.

The Undertaker has confirmed he's all but retired

However, at the end of his 'Last Ride' documentary, he also confirmed that he will always be there if Vince McMahon calls on him. Hope you'll be waiting by the phone, 'Taker.
