Arsenal news: Mesut Ozil will 'never' play for Gunners again according to former star

Ozil's time at Arsenal is up

Mesut Ozil's Arsenal career is over according to former Gunners star Kevin Campbell.

The midfielder's case is a strange one. Signed in 2013, he was Arsene Wenger's star man before the French coach left five years later.

But since the arrival of Unai Emery and then Mikel Arteta, Ozil has failed to make an impact and his game time has plummeted.

In the 2019/20 season, the German featured just 23 times in all competitions and so far during this campaign, he's played ZERO times and was even left out of his club's Europa League squad.

Clearly, new manager Arteta simply doesn't fancy him. It's looking increasingly unlikely that Ozil will never play for Arsenal again, despite having nine months left on his £350,000-a-week contract.

In fact, that's the opinion of Campbell, who claims the midfielder is finished in north London.

"Mesut Ozil is yesterday’s news at the club. There is no chance that he will feature for Arsenal again this season, or ever again," he said, per Genting Bet

Ozil is 'done' at Arsenal

"There have been certain things that have gone on, instances where he has gone against the club, so I don’t see where there is any room for him to come back."

A couple of the instances that Campell is referring to, of course, have come in recent months.

Firstly, he was reportedly one of the players that refused to take a pay cut at the start of the coronavirus pandemic and he went on to further embarrass the club over the Gunnersaurus saga.

Ozil has reached the point of no return

When news broke that Arsenal's mascot Jerry Quy had been made redundant, Ozil publically offered to step in and pay his full salary.

It was a nice gesture, yes, but one that also put Arsenal in a bad light. Because of these actions, Campbell doesn't think the midfielder will ever pull on the Gunners shirt again.
