Everton 2-2 Liverpool: Jordan Henderson has last-minute winner disallowed for offside

Jordan Henderson had an injury-time winner during Everton vs Liverpool disallowed for the tiniest of margins.

Sadio Mane was adjudged to be offside in the build-up and denied Liverpool winning a dramatic Merseyside Derby 3-2.

It was a derby full of talking points.

Sadio Mane had given the Reds an early lead following brilliant work from Andy Robertson. The left-back skipped past Seamus Coleman and pulled the ball back for Mane to fire home.

Liverpool were looking sharp.

They were clearly hurting from their 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa and had been waiting two weeks to respond.

Minutes later, they thought they had been awarded a penalty after Jordan Pickford produced a shocking tackle on Virgil van Dijk. Luckily for the Everton goalkeeper, Van Dijk was ruled just offside in the build-up and, therefore, Liverpool weren’t awarded a penalty and Pickford stayed on the pitch.

Van Dijk had to be substituted with Joe Gomez coming on to replace him.

With Van Dijk off the pitch, Everton equalised.

From a corner where Van Dijk usually dominates, Michael Keane rose highest to make it 1-1.

Everton had the momentum and probably looked the more dangerous after the break.

However, out of absolutely nowhere, the ball fell to Salah on the edge of the box who fired the ball brilliantly past Pickford.

Liverpool were ahead with a little more than 20 minutes remaining.

It was his 100th goal on what was his 158th appearance.

What a record.

However, the away side couldn’t hold onto all three points as the in-form Dominic Calvert-Lewin earned his side a point with 10 minutes remaining.

Lucas Digne swung in a cross from the left and Calvert-Lewin rose above Gomez to score his 10th goal of the season.

There was still time for drama as Richarlison was sent off for a quite awful tackle on Thiago.

And then Liverpool captain Henderson seemed to have won the match for his side as he swept in Mane's cross and his shot squeezed past Pickford.

But Mane was adjudged to be offside by the smallest of margins in the build-up.
