The return of Sergio Aguero was among the big talking points ahead of Manchester City vs Arsenal. The Argentine started at the Etihad having recovered from his knee injury. It was not long before he made his presence known either, causing the Gunners problems as he latched onto Riyad Mahrez's pass and sprinted at their defence, subsequently laying the ball off to Phil Foden. Bernd Leno could only parry Foden's shot into the path of Raheem Sterling, who duly put City 1-0 ahead. However, Aguero also courted attention for the wrong reasons. As Gabriel went to clear the ball, the City striker chased it down and clearly made contact, causing lineswoman Sian Massey-Ellis to award the throw to the Gunners.Aguero protested, presumably arguing that he was already off the pitch by the time the ball touched him.

As the footage shows, Aguero's complaints went too far and his decision to grab Massey-Ellis by the shoulder was inappropriate.

While he might consider himself fortunate not to have faced any immediate action for laying his hands on a match official, he nonetheless sparked a backlash from fans on social media.

One described it as "demeaning" to the female official and another added: "Aguero holding a lineswoman by the neck is not okay."

There's even a petition on Change.org demanding he is charged by the FA.

Minutes later, Massey-Ellis and her fellow officials nearly had a big decision to make as Kyle Walker's high foot made contact with Gabriel on the stroke of half time.

City arguably got away with one there - but it remains to be seen if Aguero's conduct will go unpunished.
