Manchester United beat Newcastle 4-1 on Saturday evening at St James' Park.

But the scoreline doesn't tell the whole story.

It was a real slog for United, who fell behind after just two minutes after an unfortunate Luke Shaw own goal.

Harry Maguire restored parity 20 minutes later, but the two teams were still tied going into half-time.

It looked like it was going to be a frustrating day for the Red Devils when Bruno Fernandes uncharacteristically saw his penalty saved 15 minutes after half-time.

But United ran away with it in the remaining 10 minutes.

Fernandes netted the all important goal in the 86th minute as he capped off a wonderful team move, before goals from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford made the points safe.

One of United's players who made a big impression on the night was Donny van de Beek.

The Dutchman is yet to start in the Premier League for United and he was on the bench against on Saturday evening.

But he was sent on in the 76th minute by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he made his mark.

He was brilliant in the build-up to Fernandes' goal to give United a late lead.

And United fans think that he changed the game and deserves to start from now on.

Solskjaer's decision to leave him on the bench baffled fans - especially when the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Juan Mata were starting.

But the Norwegian boss has urged United fans to be patient and promised them he will get game-time.

"He’ll get his game-time. He’s been fantastic in the group," Solskjaer said, per the Metro.

"I think you see today and in training, he’s so neat and tidy, I don’t think he lost the ball once.

"It’s about finding the balance in the team. We’ve won 4-1 today and you’re asking why I didn’t start one of the players. He’ll have a very good impact on the team."
