Teofimo Lopez was in fine form on Saturday, defeating Vasyl Lomachenko by means of judges’ decision.
However, in truth he absolutely dominated the fight, which didn’t go a miss to the judges, as they scored the fight 109-119, 111-117, 112-116 all in favour of the American.
Of course, this was Lomachenko’s first fight in 14 months, so it might’ve been expected that it would have took him time to settle into the fight, which he eventually did by springing back to life in the eighth round, and winning the following rounds until the 12th.
Lopez’s victory means the pound-for-pound rankings have taken a shake up, with Lopez who wasn’t even in the top 50 before the Lomachenko fight, now comfortably sitting in third place, according to WBN.
For being only 23 years old, Lopez has had quite the career, as he is the youngest ever fighter to win four titles at one weight division.
Lopez isn’t the only fighter moving up in the rankings after its latest update either, with ‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury moving up one place after his dominant display over Deontay Wilder back in February.
