Conor Coady is without question the best English central defender in the Premier League right now.
The Wolves centre-back has been the hallmark of consistency since arriving in the English top-flight and he's taken his game up a notch in 2020/21.
Coady has excelled for both club and country over the past few months, scoring his first England goal in a friendly against Wales just short of two weeks ago.
Against Leeds last night, the Liverpool-born defender was brilliant once again, nullifying Marcelo Bielsa's attackers and producing a number of his trademark passes.
The 27-year-old is a seriously good player and it's no surprise that people have brought up his name in reference to those who could replace the injured Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool.
But would a graduate from the club's academy consider returning to Anfield? Well, Jamie Carragher tested that theory by playing a prank on Coady straight after Wolves' victory at Elland Road last night.
Siting in the Monday Night Football studio, Carragher told Coady that Jurgen Klopp himself had named him as a replacement for Van Dijk and asked for the Wolves man's thoughts on returning to Merseyside.
Klopp had said nothing of the sort, but Coady brilliantly replied: "I can't believe you've just put this on me here, no!
"I can't believe it. Not at all, I love playing for this football club every single day. We've just beat Leeds in an amazing, amazing game."
A top response after cruelly being put on the spot by Carragher.
Earlier on in his post-match interview, Coady delivered another brilliant moment after learning that teammate Max Kilman had been named man-of-the-match.
Upon hearing the news, the Wolves captain replied in a hilariously sarcastic manner: "Did he?!"
Don't worry, he was full of praise for Kilman as well!
Coady really is one of the good guys of the game and it should be mandatory for the defender to have to give a post-match interview on live television after every single Wolves game.
