Sami Zayn beat AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy to win the Intercontinental title at Clash of Champions last month. Well actually, if you ask the man himself, he'll say he successfully 'defended it'. That's because ahead of the PPV, there were two belts in circulation on SmackDown. One held by Sami, the other by Hardy. While Zayn was absent from WWE during the first few months of the coronavirus pandemic, an interim champion was crowned - much to the disgust of the 'real' titleholder. But all that confusion was finally put to bed at Clash of Champions, where a triple threat ladder match determined the true champion. And it was Zayn who walked away with the gold after a brutal battle that saw him handcuff both his opponents to different ladders before grabbing the belts hanging above the ring. The win signals another big moment in Sami's career and after the match, he shared a brilliant moment with Vince McMahon backstage. Check out the clip below:

Isn't that fantastic? We rarely get a look behind the curtain, especially at the gorilla position during a PPV event.

Just look at what it means to Zayn to be a champion in WWE again.

He goes straight to McMahon to thank him for the opportunity and the boss, after asking him how he is, simply says it's time to 'go to work now'.

And go to work he will. In recent weeks, the Canadian star has already cut some brilliant promos and defended his Intercontinental title against Hardy once again.

If that brutal ladder match, which many fans are calling one of the best to go down inside the ThunderDome this year, is anything to go by, then Zayn's title run is going to be a lot of fun.
