Tottenham Hotspur had a heck of a summer.
After finishing in sixth place in the Premier League season the target set by Daniel Levy was to get the club back into the Champions League.
After rescuing the club last term Jose Mourinho is seen as the man to do that, but even he would have admitted that he couldn't do it alone.
As a result Spurs made waves in the transfer market as they looked to get themselves back on track.
Seven big-name signings arrived at the club, including deals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart, Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale, Carlos Vinicius and most recently, Joe Rodon who arrived at the club from Swansea City.
Those signings should be enough to help Tottenham to a much-improved campaign this time around.
But while new signings are seen as a positive, they do have a knock-on effect to the other players in the squad.
Mourinho can only name 11 players in his starting line-up and that means that some players may now find themselves out of favour.
One player who falls into that category is Gedson Fernandes.
The 21-year-old moved to north London in January this year on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica.
It was thought that a temporary switch could lead to a permanent move if he was seen as a success in the Premier League.
However according to Spanish outlet A Bola, that doesn't seem to be the case.
It's claimed that Spurs will cut the midfielder's loan spell short and send him back to the Portuguese giants in January.
It's thought that Tottenham have the option to make the deal permanent for a fee of €50million.

Things just haven't worked out for Gedson Fernandes at Tottenham.
Jose Mourinho has needed to prioritise results since taking charge of the club and that means that developing young players has had to be put on the backburner.
While the 21-year-old is a talent, he hasn't had a look-in this term.
Fernandes has made just one appearance for Tottenham so far this term, and it seems unlikely that he'll significantly add to that tally in the coming months.
There's no doubt that the midfielder is set for a big career in the game, however that now seems unlikely to be in north London.
