Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed an excellent summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho has been tasked with closing the gap on the Premier League's top four after a disappointing season last time out.

A sixth place finish is far from good enough for Spurs, and that's why they hit the transfer trail hard.

Daniel Levy led the recruitment on several key deals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale, Carlos Vinicius and Joe Rodon.

You're right, it's quite a list.

While Spurs are undoubtedly stronger following their summer spending spree, it's left a feeling of uncertainty around certain members of the first team squad.

One of the players in question is Danny Rose.

The full-back appears to have played his last game for Tottenham after being left out of their 25-man Premier League squad.

Rose has less than a year remaining on his current contract in north London, and according to a report it seems that his time with the club could end prematurely.

Football Insider have claimed that Spurs are planning talks about terminating his contract.

Any deal to do so would agree a settlement figure and allow the former England international to discuss terms with other clubs over a potential move.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

You have to feel for Danny Rose.

The full-back is arguably one of the best left-sided players that the country has seen in recent years.

Yet he now finds himself in football's scrap heap.

Rose showed as recently as last season that he is still more than capable of performing in the Premier League.

With the defender being excluded from Spurs' 25-man squad, it seems that agreeing a settlement to end his contract could be the best thing for all parties.

It would allow Rose the opportunity for a fresh start in his career.

Rose is certainly capable of performing at the highest level for a few years yet, and that means that there's likely to be no shortage of takers.

Clubs in the top flight and the Championship will be interested, while I'm sure that he will be an attractive proposition for clubs overseas as well.

Time will tell how this situation will be resolved, but I'm sure we'd all love to see Rose performing week in, week out again before too long.
