Leeds United have been very impressive this term.

After returning to the Premier League after 16 years away few would have predicted the way that they've relished the challenge.

Seven points from five games so far has seen the Whites settle in the top half of the table - a position that they'll no doubt be thrilled with.

After all, avoiding the drop has to be the one and only objective this term.

Despite a fine start to the campaign, the weekend's defeat against Wolves was a disappointing blow.

This was, in part, down to the injury suffered by Kalvin Phillips who now looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Reports had suggested that he faced six weeks on the sidelines, but Bielsa has said that this is not necessarily the case.

Addressing the injury to Phillips, as quoted by Leeds Live, Bielsa said: "I didn’t have the definitive amount of time that Phillips was going to be out for," he said.

"I understand that the information is incorrect. It’s not defined how long he will be out for. It could be more or it could be less. The one who will play in his place will be Pascal."

Bielsa also had an update on Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente, both of whom could miss out on the weekend's clash with Aston Villa.

He said: "I can’t confirm whether Cooper is going to be available or not as we’re two days away from the game and we’re still not sure.

When pressed on Llorente's fitness, he added: "He won’t be available for this Friday’s game."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

The update on Kalvin Phillips' injury is an interesting one.

What Marcelo Bielsa has said doesn't exactly suggest good news, but it certainly isn't bad news.

However the update on Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente is a blow.

To potentially be without both players for a crucial match against Aston Villa is very disappointing.

Options are starting to look a little bit limited at the back, and so Bielsa will surely be hoping to have Cooper back.

The skipper is central to everyone at Elland Road and so to see him return would be a real boost.
