Manchester United: Mason Greenwood 'dragged in for a talking-to' by club bosses

Manchester United's start to the new season has been a topsy-turvy affair, but did we expect anything less?

The club were trounced 6-1 in utterly embarrassing fashion by Jose Mourinho's Tottenham but have since bounced back with two successive wins.

They brushed aside Newcastle by winning 4-1 and then saved their most impressive result of the new campaign for midweek.

As seems to be customary now, the club went to Paris and defeated PSG in the Champions League.

Bruno Fernandes scored another penalty and then the man of the moment, Marcus Rashford, fired home a late winner inside Le Parc des Princes.

It seems that just at the right time, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are building ahead of steam - in their next two games they face both Chelsea and Leipzig.

They will have to be at the top of their game to win both encounters and will have to be greatly improved in defence.

A player they could benefit from having is Mason Greenwood, a young individual who has made headlines for all the wrong reasons in the last few months.

The 19-year-old was dropped from United's squad to play Newcastle and also missed out against PSG.

Solskjaer claims it's not because of his off-field conduct, citing a lack of fitness, but a fresh report has revealed that he could well be in trouble with the club's bosses.

That's according to The Daily Mail who have revealed that Man United chiefs have dragged the talented teenager in for talks after growing frustrated with his behaviour.

The £45m-rated Greenwood has reportedly annoyed them with 'general tardiness' and punctuality.

For someone who promised so much last season, scoring 19 times, this has been a nightmare period for Greenwood.

This campaign was expected to be a big one for the forward but instead, he's let his off-field behaviour do the talking rather than his performances.

He received his England debut at the beginning of the season but ruined his first stay with the national side by breaking COVID-19 protocols with Manchester City's Phil Foden.

The duo invited a pair of Icelandic models back to their hotel and as a result, Gareth Southgate told them to return home.

Greenwood was then left out of the recent Three Lions squad for games with Belgium, Wales and Denmark, and is now facing a battle to prove himself to his superiors.

A talking-to from Man United bosses seems like a sensible move - he simply needs to crack on with his football at this point.
