Kingsley Coman's career has been phenomenal so far.

At the age of 24, he has already played for three of the biggest clubs in world football - PSG, Juventus and now Bayern Munich.

He has won a domestic league with all of them and hasn't lost the title for nine straight years. That is a remarkable record that dates all the way back to the 2012/13 season.

The Frenchman was in his homeland at the time, rising through the ranks at PSG. However, they surrendered Coman's talent and despite having the luxury of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their ranks, must be frustrated about losing one of their own.

It brings particular hurt when he stars against you in a European final too. The narrative was there this summer and he lit up that game, ensuring that his former club had no chance of winning their first-ever Champions League.

However, it could have been so much different for Coman, a player who has picked up injury problems on an unrelenting basis.

Two years ago, the winger suffered back to back syndesmotic ligament tears that required surgery.

It was a particularly tough time for him, one that he admitted at the time could have taken his career away from him.

Coman emotionally revealed: "When I hurt myself, it was the end of the world for me.

"I hope I don't have to relive what I've been through. Enough is enough. I will not accept a third operation – it will mean maybe my foot is not made for this level."

Coman concluded: "I will then lead another life, an anonymous life."

It's just as well he didn't hang up his boots, because he's gone onto achieve some pretty remarkable things since he came out and said those words in December 2018.

x2 Bundesliga

Coman is a trophy-winning machine and since he suggested he could retire, he has gone on to win two Bundesliga titles, adding to the seven title wins he already had under his belt. His rate of winning the league is quite frankly ridiculous.

x2 DFB-Pokal

The Frenchman has made a habit of joining sides who completely dominate their league and as it happens, they also dominate in the cup competitions. Coman has been a part of two DFB-Pokal winning teams since potential retirement was hinted at. He has also scored three goals in the same tournament since.

x2 DFL Super Cup

This is the German version of the Community Shield and Coman has a flawless record in this glorified pre-season friendly too. It might not be up there with all the league wins but it's two further trophies nonetheless.

Winning the Champions League

This is the big one and Coman had an enormous part to play in it. It was perhaps a surprise that he even started the final in Lisbon but the decision to play him over Ivan Perisic has been more than repaid. Coman was the game's only scorer as he found the back of the net via his head. If ever there was a moment that vindicated his decision not to retire, this was it.

First France caps for 19 months

Because of Coman's injury issues in 2018, he missed out on France's travelling party to Russia for the World Cup. Whether he has the chance to compete for another such trophy remains to be seen, but not being in the squad that would ultimately win the competition must have been hard to take. However, since suggestions of retirement, Coman has earned the first caps for his country in 19 months and also scored his first goals for Les Bleus in three years.

9 goals and 7 assists in 2018/19

Before his second ligament tear, Coman had only scored one goal all season. However, he came back fighting and once he returned n 2018/19, began firing in the goals on a regular basis. All seven of his assists that term came after December. Impressive work.

8 goals and 7 assists in 2019/20

Coman is a pillar of consistency and this tally from last season says it all. He scored just one less than he managed the campaign before and registered the same number of assists. The Frenchman is continuously proving himself as one of the most dangerous in Europe and few would bet against him bettering his tallies this term.

2 goals v Atletico in 2020/21

The £36m-rated attacker has started the new campaign in devastating form and showed as much by scoring twice against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. During that game, he also created four chances and completed two take-ons. It was as dominant as they come from a wide player who must be relieved that he didn't pack it in two years ago.

No long-term injuries

Alongside the Champions League win, this is surely one of the most satisfying things for Coman. Since muttering the words of a third surgery, his longest spell on the sidelines has seen him miss just seven outings. That's compared to the 31 games he was absent from during his ligament tears.

Providing Coman can stay fit from now on, he has an enormously high ceiling in the game. It's exciting to see just how fast he's developing.
