Floyd Mayweather has come out in an explosive rant against the four major boxing organisations, making the case that their greed is ruining the sport. It's not the first time Mayweather has taken issue with sanctioning fees in boxing, which is the required sum of money to receive the belt won in the fight. In 2015, Money defeated Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas but was refused the belt after he failed to pay the WBO the $200,000 sanctioning fee by the deadline."For every belt that you win, there's a sanctioning fee. If a fighter wins an interim belt, he has to pay a sanctioning fee. If a fighter has just the regular belt, he has to pay a sanctioning fee. If a fighter is a super-champion, then he has to pay a sanctioning fee."You guys are just taking extra money from all these fighters, getting extra money from sanctioning fees."There are four major organisations in boxing, the World Boxing Council, World Boxing Association,  International Boxing Federation, and the World Boxing Organisation.

Each of those has 17 weight classes, from miniweight (48kg) to heavyweight (which is unlimited but above the 91kg threshold of cruiserweight).

"WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO - y'all gotta clean this s*** up. Y'all have to clean this up. This is bad for boxing, and there's such thing as no super-champion.

"We've got to clean the sport of boxing up, this don't look good."

Mayweather also took issue with the presence of so many titles, which he believes is undermining the credibility of champion status.

"I don't want to knock no fighter, but I'm tired of seeing the fighters after the fight, everybody with their championship belt.

"Belts are now like winning an amateur trophy. Everybody's a champion, everybody has a belt.

"There are too many champions in the sport of boxing."

The current WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight belts are held by Anthony Joshua, while the WBC belt was won by Tyson Fury when he defeated Deontay Wilder in February.

The last heavyweight to be recognised as the undisputed heavyweight champion, who holds all four major belts, is Lennox Lewis in 1999 when he defeated Evander Holyfield by unanimous decision.
