Gareth Bale: Tottenham fans react to Welshman's display in Europa League win vs LASK

Gareth Bale’s debut for Spurs against West Ham on the weekend couldn’t have gone any worse.

The Welshman emerged from the bench when Spurs were 3-0 up and cruising.

But the Hammers made a miraculous comeback and sealed a point when Manuel Lanzini struck a brilliant equaliser from 30 yards.

Earlier on, with Spurs holding a narrow 3-2 lead, Bale had the chance to seal the game for the north London side. But his brilliant run ended in him just shooting wide with the game.

He made his full debut against LASK in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Spurs ran out 3-0 winners, with Bale playing a huge part in their second.

His cross with the outside of his foot was turned into the net by a LASK player.

But, other than that, he had a quiet night. He showed flashes of his ability but was eventually substituted off in the 63rd minute.

He failed to produce a single shot on target during his time on the pitch.

Stats claim he didn’t create a chance for his side, either, but that’s harsh given he assisted the own-goal.

Of course, Spurs fans were watching Bale’s every move.

And the vast majority have come to the assessment that while he wasn’t at his very best, he’s still rusty and needs more match practice.

He still showed them enough that they are still very excited about what he produces when he’s back to top shape.

He’s certainly rusty, that’s come to be expected after not featuring for Real Madrid for so many months.

It’s clear he’s not going to be the player he was during his last stint at Spurs.

But he has at least shown flashes of his talent. He just needs to show that on a more regular basis and I’m sure it will come when he gets more match fitness.
