Donyell Malen has become something of a star in the Netherlands.

The striker has been tearing it up for PSV Eindhoven since 2018.

He has scored 33 goals in 78 games for the club, and netted 11 times in 14 outings last season, and it’s often forgotten that he actually spent the majority of his youth career with Arsenal.

Having started with Ajax, he moved to north London in 2015/16 and played for their youth teams, making 45 appearances and scoring 18 goals.

Malen has become a star since then, of course, and is now valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt.

Malen is still just 21 and it feels as though he is due a big move soon enough, and Sport Witness carries a report from Soccernews that the Gunners could be interested in bringing him back.

He was carrying a knee injury meaning that he couldn’t move on in the summer but he already has five goals to his name this season in just seven games.

While Arsenal are touted as potential suitors, so are Serie A giants Juventus, who have already initiated contact with Malen’s representatives.

Malen is said to be focusing on keeping his form going so he makes the Netherlands squad for the European Championships next summer, but it would make sense for any interested club to try to get him ahead of a good showing at the tournament.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Malen is an exceptional talent.

He took the step of moving to Holland to showcase his talents and see just how good he could become, and he has been exceptional.

Now comes the inevitable interest and he deserves a big move, but it remains to be seen if the Gunners will be able to best Juve to his signature.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ageing – he’ll be 32 next year – bringing in a direct replacement with a similar amount of searing pace, and a similar eye for goal, would make complete sense.

This would be a superb deal for the Gunners.
