The year 2018 feels like a lifetime ago at the moment.Things are a bit of a daze right now, almost like we took a knee to the head from Conor McGregor himself. And talking about knees to the head, the Irishman remembers one he delivered pretty well, judging by his latest tweets.Reminiscing about his UFC 229 grudge match with Khabib Nurmagomedov, Notorious tweeted a clip of his illegal move in the second round. With Khabib restraining him, Conor unleashed a knee into his opponent’s eye socket, which he believes “kept (Khabib) honest!” and caused the Russian to “cower his head”.Ultimately, Khabib still, of course, won that round and the fight, but McGregor’s point is that in the sport, “anything bar biting and gouging should be permitted."He continued: "Are we fighting or what are we doing here?”

He even went on to tag ex-ref John McCarthy, signing his message off: “Your pal. Mr tasty shots.”

This wasn’t the only decision McGregor took issue with. He still maintains he had the better of the fight until it was stopped, claiming he out-struck Khabib 3 to 1 in the first round and had the better of his opponent in the third and fourth rounds, until he was tripped.

What do you think? Does Conor have a point here? It is, after all, ‘Ultimate Fighting Championship', or is It just a case of sour grapes?

Either way, the fighter, who has officially been 'retired' since June, is seemingly close to yet another comeback after agreeing to fight Dustin Poirier for the first time since 2014. He must shed some pounds to make weight, though, with Dana White insisting the fight will only happen at the 155-pound mark, not a “weight that means nothing.”

Khabib, on the other hand, is moving on to things new, a unification fight against Justin Gaethje this Saturday on Dana White’s dramatically named ‘Fight Island’.
