When you think about WWE legends, a number of names instantly spring to mind.

Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Rock. Hulk Hogan. The Undertaker.

Those are four names that - more often than not - appear on the 'pro-wrestling Mt. Rushmore'.

But there are plenty of others that we could throw in there, too.

The beauty of naming legends is that every fan is entitled to their opinion and on that note, over 15,000 of them have decided to rank the 'greatest WWE superstars of the 21st century'.

Using Ranker, fans have created an extensive list of the best-ever and their top 50 have been named.

So, let's check it out below.

The Rock and Cena feature on the list

50. Shinsuke Nakamura

Summary of 50-36

It's fair to say there are a few surprises on the list already. The fact that Brock Lesnar and Eddie Guerrero are so low will likely raise a few eyebrows.

Then there's the inclusion of a couple of stars like Jey Uso and Shinsuke Nakamura. Both are fantastic, yes. But to make the top 50? It's a bit of a stretch.

Should Nakamura be on the list?

35-21

35. Samoa Joe

34. AJ Lee

33. Booker T

32. Hulk Hogan

31. Mick Foley

Foley is in the top 50

30. Lita

25. Paige

24. Big Show

23. Ric Flair

22. Dean Ambrose

21. Alexa Bliss

Bliss is on the list

Summary of 35-21

Now we're getting down to business. As you can see, there's still plenty of space for stars that made their name in WWE long before the turn of the century.

The likes of Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Mick Foley are all involved, as are more modern stars like Sasha Banks, Asuka and Kofi Kingston.

Asuka is deserving of her place

20-11

20. Charlotte Flair

19. Trish Stratus

18. Becky Lynch

17. CM Punk

16. Kane

The Monster Kane makes the cut

15. Finn Balor

14. Jeff Hardy

13. Seth Rollins

12. Chris Jericho

11. Kurt Angle

Angle just misses out on the top 10

Summary of 20-11

First of all, it's great to see so many female wrestlers break into the top 20. There's no denying that Charlotte, Becky Lynch and fan favourite Trish Stratus all deserve their spots here.

Seeing Finn Balor so high is also a pleasant surprise considering he's been back in NXT for most of 2020, while the inclusion of Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle is far more obvious.

Rollins just misses the cut for the top 10 as well

10-1

10. Triple H

9. John Cena

8. Rey Mysterio

7. Edge

6. Roman Reigns

Reigns is on the WWE run of his life

5. AJ Styles

4. Shawn Michaels

3. Randy Orton

2. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

1. The Undertaker

The Undertaker tops the list

Summary of 10-1

So there we have it. The Undertaker has been ranked as the greatest WWE Superstar of the 21st century and after everything he's done, it's hard to argue.

The Deadman beat the likes of HBK, Roman Reigns and The Rock to top spot... but just look how far down the list John Cena is in 9th!
