Paul Pogba is one of the most divisive footballers on the planet.Despite being a World Cup winner with France, many believe the silky midfielder is overrated and is a hinderance to Manchester United as a team when he's playing.On the other side of the argument, you have those that recognise the former Juventus man's outrageous talent and his ability to change a football match at any level in an instant.That match-winning ability was showcased to the world in United's 2-1 win away at Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.With the score at 1-1, Pogba was brought off the bench by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his prowess in the final third swung the match in United's favour, Marcus Rashford scoring a late winner.
It's far from the first time Pogba has changed a game for the Red Devils and it feels like he doesn't receive the respect he deserves.Gary Neville supported that exact theory early this morning after he was challenged by a fan to name his all time United XI using only foreign players.Bizarrely, Pogba was omitted from the XI in favour of Juan Sebastian Veron, a player regularly labelled as one of the Premier League's big-money flops.
Neville's XI: Peter Schmeichel, Rafael, Jaap Stam, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Carlos Tevez, Bruno Fernandes, Veron, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
David De Gea understandably misses out to accommodate the legendary Schmeichel, while Tevez is preferred to Antonio Valencia on the wing.
The Ecuadorian could have actually taken Rafael's spot at right-back, given that he spent many years in the role and regularly performed to a very high standard.
Aside from Pogba's omission, Neville's XI does looks pretty solid though. Fernandes deservedly makes the cut despite being at the club less than a year, the Portuguese winning the club's Player of the Year award for 2019/20 after arriving in January.
But Veron? Not for us. Maybe Neville saw a different player in training, but the man who was once English football's most expensive player failed to show even a quarter of his ability during his two years at United.
He was even worse at Chelsea, making just 14 appearances in all competitions for the Blues...
