Leeds United are loving life right now.

After storming to promotion last term few would have imagined that they would take the same sort of form into their Premier League return.

It's been 16 long years since the club graced the top flight so it was always going to take time to adapt, right?

Not if you're led by Marcelo Bielsa.

The Whites have won three of their six games so far, giving them a tally of 10 points at this early stage of the season.

While the campaign is in its infancy, this run of form certainly bodes well for the remaining 32 games.

A 3-0 victory over Aston Villa was the latest success story with Patrick Bamford scored a hattrick to secure an emphatic win over Dean Smith's side.

But if things had gone differently over the summer the former Middlesbrough striker might not have even been in the starting XI.

Described by Dean Smith as 'something special', Ollie Watkins is a player who attracted plenty of interest before moving to Villa Park this summer.

Leeds were one of the clubs repeatedly linked with the striker, and according to Jermaine Beckford, a move to Elland Road was perhaps closer than people thought.

Speaking on The Phil Hay Show, Beckford said: "They (Aston Villa) have also got Ollie Watkins another player that we were linked heavily with.

“Somebody that I had spoken to over the summer and he was on the cusp of joining the club but for one reason or another his move broke down and fell through, which was a shame if I am honest with you because he’s not only a really good football player and a great goal scorer, but he’s a lovely person as well.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a start to the season it's been for Leeds United.

Anyone who watched the Yorkshire side in the last two seasons will have seen exactly what the Whites are capable of under Marcelo Bielsa.

But to see them doing it in the Premier League is very impressive.

Bielsa is fiercely protective of his playing squad and I'm sure that Ollie Watkins would have been a huge success at Elland Road.

However the form of Patrick Bamford has been a joy to behold.

The striker is clearly enjoying life back in the top flight and Leeds supporters will be hoping that his goalscoring form can continue through the coming months.
