Ajax broke all kinds of records with a 13-0 thrashing of VVV Venlo on Saturday.

The Dutch champions moved top of the table with ease, surging into a four-goal lead at the break.

And just when it seemed things could not possibly get any worse, Christian Kum's sending off in the 52nd minute opened the floodgates.

No fewer than seven Ajax players got in on the act, but there was a starring role from Lassina Traoré.

Just days after making his Champions League debut, the 19-year-old was directly involved in eight goals, scoring five and assisting a further three.

It was incredible display from the teenager, whose journey from Burkina Faso, via South Africa, in just three short years has been remarkable.

The forward's display helped Ajax to record the biggest league win in their history - surpassing 1972's 12-1 win over Vitesse - as well as the greatest winning margin in the Eredivisie.

You can see all the action from a historic afternoon below:

Traoré was not the only one who capitalised on VVV's abysmal defensive performance.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar only came on in the 70th minute and still managed to bag a brace, one of his goals coming from the penalty spot.

Yet it's Traoré who is gradually gaining more and more attention from outside the Netherlands as he proves himself as one of the most exciting up-and-coming talents on the continent.
