Shkodran Mustafi had another poor game for Arsenal on Sunday evening against Leicester.
The German defender came on in the second half as David Luiz was forced off with injury.
Arsenal would go on to lose 1-0 and many have blamed Mustafi for the goal.
Mustafi was out of position and ignored calls from Gabriel to be in the right place.
Just seconds later, Vardy netted after finding himself in the space Mustafi should have occupied.
Despite his struggles since joining the club from Valencia, he has retained the confidence of both Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.
It has emerged that he has recently been offered a contract extension by the club.
However, according to football.london, Mustafi has rejected Arsenal's offer.
Mustafi's current contract runs out next summer and he has now informed the club that he plans to leave when it runs out.
He is keen on a move to Italy with his wife's Albanian-Swiss family living close by in Switzerland.
Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter where they have criticised the club for offering Mustafi a contract in the first place.
Arteta spoke about his willingness to get Mustafi tied down to a new deal in July.
"That’s something the club has to address but he knows my opinion,” said Arteta.
“I’m really happy with him as you can see. The way he’s playing, how committed he is with everything we’re trying to do, the level in his performance ever three or four days, he’s been really consistent.”
Unfortunately for Arteta, it appears he has failed in his attempts to keep the German at the club.
He might be disappointed, but the same definitely cannot be said by the Arsenal fans that have had to watch him for the last few years.
