PlayStation 5: How big is Sony’s new PS5 console?

We’re approaching November which means we’re edging closer to the release of the PlayStation 5.
Sony’s new console hits the shelves in the UK on November 19 and many gaming fans immediately submitted their pre-orders following last month’s official announcement.
The PlayStation 5 will cost £449.99, while the Playstation 5 Digital Edition is slightly cheaper at £359.99.
A few lucky individuals have already managed to get their hands on the next-generation console.
And a flurry of unboxing videos were uploaded to YouTube by reviewers on Tuesday, racking up millions of views in the process.

While it has never been a secret that the PS5 is big - the size of the console has still come as a surprise to many.
The soon-to-be-released console measures approximately 390mm (15.4 inches) tall, 260mm (10.24 inches) deep and 104mm (4.09 inches) wide.
By comparison, the Xbox Series X is 301mm (11.8 inches) tall, and 151mm (5.9 inches) wide or deep.
So yes, there’s a considerable size difference between Sony and Microsoft’s latest offerings.
But is the PS5 a bit *too* big?
First of all, let’s compare it to the size of the PS4…

It’s a beast!
One Twitter user has placed the PS5 on the scales and it weighs in (boxed) at a fairly chunky 14.7 lbs.
“It’s heavy!” IGN’s reviewer said after taking it from the box. “I’m surprised at the heft of the console.”

It’s even bigger than certain breeds of dogs…
You may need to clear more room off your desk than you first thought when the postman delivers your brand new PS5 next month.
