It’s fair to say Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign has got off to a rocky start. In their opening fixture, Zinedine Zidane’s side faced a Shakhtar Donetsk team depleted by coronavirus and lost 3-2 after going 3-0 down.In what was arguably their easiest fixture of the group, it was a disastrous start for Real. But things got even worse on Tuesday. After winning El Clasico at the weekend, Los Blancos would have travelled to Germany to face Borussia Monchengladbach with confidence. However, after an hour, that confidence would have disappeared as two Marcus Thuram goals put the home side 2-0 ahead.p1elmub0j1197h1nqkv70tuv48rb.jpgReal were staring at two defeats out of two with a double-header against Inter Milan coming up.However, two goals in the final few minutes rescued a point for the Spanish side. First, Karim Benzema scored in the 87th minute before Casemiro’s 93rd minute equaliser.Zidane’s side had rescued a point.p1elmuc6oa1lit1gmnluk1mt111d0d.jpgBut all is not well at the Spanish champions.During their El Clasico victory on Saturday, cameras caught Isco criticising Zidane’s use of him, claiming: "If he has to take me off, it's in the 50th or 60th minute of the game. Sometimes at half time. If he has to bring me on, it's in the 80th minute."

Now, cameras had reportedly picked up something even more serious at half time of their draw against Borussia Monchengladbach.

According to reports Benzema was talking to Ferland Mendy and complained about Vinicius Jr.

He apparently said: “Play it to me. On my mum’s life, he [Vinicius] is playing against us.”

What makes it worse is that Vinicius is right here within earshot but Benzema is speaking in French, not caring if the Brazilian can hear him.

We can’t confirm the reports but, if true, that’s pretty shocking behaviour from Benzema.

The experienced striker should know far better than to criticise a young 20-year-old, even if he's not playing well. Benzema should be encouraging him, not telling other players to stop passing the ball to him.

Perhaps Real players should just be warier of cameras and microphones in the future…
