Mason Greenwood hasn't had the easiest start to the new season. Dropped by England following his and Phil Foden's now infamous breach of COVID-19 protocol, he later saw himself left out of the Manchester United squad for the victories over Newcastle and PSG. According to widespread reports, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also gave the forward a dressing down privately. It's important to remember, however, that Greenwood is still just 19 years of age. A tally of 17 goals in his breakthrough season suggested he was a phenomenal talent and one who will only get better with time. Solskjaer knows that better than anyone and handed the teenager a starting berth for the Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig, with Marcus Rashford switched to the bench. And it took just 21 minutes for Greenwood to prove he deserved that chance, scoring with his first ever shot in Europe's elite competition. He had Paul Pogba to thank for the assist, the Frenchman going on an impressive run through Leipzig's midfield.

There was a question mark over whether Greenwood was offside, but for once, the attacker was given the benefit of the doubt.

It could well be the catalyst for the starlet to put a tricky start to the 2020/21 campaign behind him.

In fact, the same could be said of United more generally, as they have so far found respite in the Champions League.

The Red Devils began their campaign with another memorable win in Paris and for all the plaudits rightly awarded to Julian Nagelsmann, United did well to keep his Leipzig side almost entirely at bay in the first half.
