Man United 5-0 RB Leipzig: Fans think Dayot Upamecano's value was lowered by Rashford

Dayot Upamecano just couldn't deal with Marcus Rashford!

Manchester United's 2020/21 Champions League campaign has got off to the perfect start.

The Red Devils backed up their 2-1 win away at Paris Saint-Germain just over a week ago with a thumping 5-0 win over RB Leipzig at Old Trafford last night.

Fan favourite Marcus Rashford grabbed a hat-trick after coming on as a second half substitute, his first treble in the famous red jersey.

The prodigious Mason Greenwood opened the scoring on the night, while Anthony Martial also notched his first goal of the season from the penalty spot.

It was a complete performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men and it was a night to forget for the Leipzig players on show - especially highly-rated defender Dayot Upamecano.

Prior to kick-off, there were rumours flying around that United were planning to make a big-money move for the French centre-back in the not too distant future.

However, after his encounter with the Red Devils' forward line - namely Rashford - fans believe the 22-year-old's price tag has been significantly lowered.

Much of the reaction stems from Upamecano's humiliation at the hands of Rashford for the English striker's second goal of the evening to make it 3-0, a moment you can watch below.

The Frenchman just couldn't cope with Rashford's quick feet and jaw-dropping acceleration - the finish past Peter Gulacsi wasn't bad either.

Here's how United fans have reacted to the Englishman sending Upamecano back to Germany last night...

United fans react

If United manage to sign Upamecano next summer for a fee lower than his reported €50m release clause, they have Rashford to thank!

In reality, that's incredibly unlikely to happen after one slightly dodgy display on English soil and the former Red Bull Salzburg man had his fair share of bright moments at Old Trafford as well.

Instead, this is about the unquestionable brilliance of Rashford, a young superstar who's now proven he's right up there with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
