UFC news: Khabib Nurmagomedov image emerges showing how he looks after fights

Khabib Nurmagomedov has been widely hailed as one of the greatest MMA stars of all time following his recent win over Justin Gaethje and the announcement of his imminent retirement.

Eagle-eyed fans have been keen to point to another indicator of his quality in the Octagon – the fact he has suffered so little facial damage in his fights.

The reigning UFC Lightweight Champion attracted an outpouring of admiration from fans following his win over USA’s Gaethje, but immediately after the bout, announced his retirement.. with barely a scratch on him might we add.

A glance back over Khabib’s career shows that this isn’t an isolated incident either. For a sport known for its brutal, bloody spectacles, the Russian has survived a lot of his fights unscathed.

This has been perfectly highlighted by a collage posted on Twitter by a UFC fan, highlighting the fact that Khabib never looks like he's been in a scrap, despite actually being in a scrap.

Before their recent bout, Gaethje told Morning Kombat: “[Khabib’s] main priority is to not take damage, so he can live a quality life and that’s admirable.”

However, while the Russian fighter avoided any major damage to his face, he did suffer a broken toe during his preparation for UFC 254.

UFC shared fans’ admiration following his last win, declaring ‘The Eagle’ as their number one ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the wake of the Gaethje fight.

However, not everyone agreed.

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones took to Twitter to voice his frustration.

“This is number one bulls**t,” he tweeted following the UFC’s announcement, clearly believing he had more of a claim to the sport’s top spot.

Jones has been a fantastic light heavyweight champion, with 26 wins on his record and only one defeat, coming by way of disqualification back in 2009.

Those in the Jones camp will argue that the American heavyweight has claimed wins over more notable names than Khabib has during his career at lightweight.

On the other side of the coin – Khabib remains undefeated with 29 wins.

One thing is for sure, you cannot argue with how good Khabib looks even after going to war inside the Octagon.
