Khabib Nurmagomedov may have retired from UFC competition, but he is still handing out sound advice to others – just maybe not in the way you would expect.In a video originally posted by NELK, a YouTube channel with nearly six million subscribers, one of the channel’s creators Kyle Forgeard is seen talking with the Russian in the street about fellow MMA fighter Jorge Masvidal.The clip begins with Forgeard claiming that Masvidal hooked up with his girlfriend in Miami, and asking Khabib how he would go about training to fight him.Instead of detailing the most important aspects of how to become a fighter, the Russian said that he was too old to begin training, and that he should get a DOG to take him on.When questioned further, Khabib went as far as naming a pitbull as the dog of choice.The NELK channel is known for its pranks, so we can assume that the scenario described to Khabib was a fictional one, but his response to the question posed is still hilarious.The video was filmed in the Middle East, with Khabib in Abu Dhabi to prepare for his UFC 254 fight against Justin Gaethje.
The 32-year-old emerged victorious to remain unbeaten in UFC competition at 29-0, and subsequently announced his retirement from the sport.
Khabib’s father died in July due to complications from coronavirus, and the Russian said he had promised his mother that the Gaethje fight would be his last.
Following the fight, he explained: “Today, I want to say this was my last fight. Ain’t no way I’m going to come here without my father.
“After what happened with my father, when the UFC called me I talked with my mother for three days.
“She doesn’t want me to go and fight without my father. But I promise her it’s going to be my last fight.
“And if I keep my word, I have to follow this. It was my last fight here.”
