Today is the 60th birthday of the one and only Diego Armando Maradona.

Still viewed by man as the greatest footballer of all time, the World Cup winner is currently the manager of Argentine Primera Division club Gimnasia de La Plata.

He's still creating headlines within the footballing world and throughout his career, Maradona made more than enough outside of it.

The Napoli legend is one of the most controversial athletes of all time and was involved in a number of off-field scandals. Thankfully, he appears to have turned his life around.

But that doesn't mean the loose-tongued Maradona isn't prone to the odd crazy interview.

Maradona speaks to the press

Back in December of last year, the Argentine gave perhaps his most wild one to date, stating in the process that he was once abducted by a UFO - no, that's not a typo.

“Why make things up?” he told Argentine sports channel TyC Sports, per talkSPORT. “Once, after a few too many drinks, I was missing from home for three days.

“I got home and said that UFOs had taken me. I said ‘They took me, I can’t tell you about it’.”

Yep, okay Diego, we hear you loud and clear...

The interview continued in a bizarre fashion when Maradona was asked what age he lost his virgintiy, to which the football icon responded with a rather amusing anecdote.

“At 13 years old, in a basement with an older lady,” he added.

“I was on top and she was reading a newspaper.”

Right...

Maradona celebrates

He rarely disappoints, does he? In the latter stages of the interview, Maradona revealed that he had played many games throughout his career without having slept.

Now that, we can believe.

The star of the 1986 World Cup was also quizzed on which three footballers he would invite to his yacht if given the choice.

Carlos Tevez, Gabriel Heinze and Lionel Messi were the lucky three selected - what a boat party that would be!
