Manchester United will be aiming to claim their first home victory of the season when they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils enjoyed another excellent night in Europe earlier this week as they crushed RB Leipzig to maintain their 100% Champions League record.

Domestically, however, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are in 15th place and are yet to claim three points on home soil.

The Gunners come into the game having lost three of their previous four league games, so there is plenty at stake in a fixture that has thrown up some iconic moments to cherish in years gone by.

Ahead of the game, GiveMeSport have put together a combined XI comprising of six United players and five from Arsenal.

With question marks looming over the central defenders at both clubs, we've opted for a 3-4-1-2 formation to shore things up at the back.

Take a look at our selection below...

Goalkeeper: David de Gea

David de Gea

Are we seeing signs that David de Gea's metamorphosis is going full circle?

An impressive display against RB Leipzig in midweek evoked memories of the old De Gea, the one who used to be regarded among the best goalkeepers in the world.

Bernd Leno is a fantastic goalkeeper but, like his opposite number this week, has a knack for inconsistency.

The slowly improving Spaniard gets the nod here.

Centre-back: Victor Lindelof

Lindelof

The first of our three central defenders is the most unassuming which, for someone in his position, is typically a positive indicator.

Victor Lindelof quietly goes about his business in a relatively risk-free way, proving a consistently solid presence in United's defensive line.

Another domineering performance against RB Leipzig's dynamic attack in midweek showcased the extent of his quality.

Centre-back: David Luiz

David Luiz

David Luiz is the epitome of an accident waiting to happen but it is no coincidence that he is continually trusted at the top level.

The Brazilian defender boasts a decent record against United, winning five and drawing four of the 12 Premier League fixtures he's been involved in for Chelsea and Arsenal.

A tendency to pop up with stunning goals has persisted throughout Luiz's career, and a return of two in 12 against the Red Devils suggests De Gea should be wary of his swerving efforts from range.

Centre-back: Harry Maguire

Maguire

Here comes the pitchfork mob! Let's give Maguire a break shall we.

In the heart of a back-three the England international should have enough protection to restore a sense of confidence in the midst of a troubling year.

Maguire has proven himself as a first-class defender on his day, while the standard of his performances in England's back-three during the 2018 World Cup underline his credentials for this role.

Following his nightmare red card against Denmark in the last international break, Maguire has since answered some of his most vehement critics with a handful of encouraging displays.

Right-wing-back: Hector Bellerin

Hector Bellerin

The Premier League's fashionista-in-chief is a very handy wing-back as well as a progressive environmentalist and part-time style icon.

Hector Bellerin edges out Aaron Wan-Bissaka here by virtue of his superior attacking attributes and searing pace.

Left-wing-back: Bukayo Saka

Saka

The Bukayo Saka hype train continues to travel at frightening speed and rightly so.

Though he is a left-winger by trade, Saka has seamlessly slipped into a wing-back role at Arsenal and deserved his recent call-up to the England squad.

It was a narrow call over Luke Shaw following his eye-catching opening to the season, while Kieran Tierney's attacking instincts are not quite as natural as Saka's to earn a place in this position.

Central-midfield: Thomas Partey

Partey

We've seen enough of Thomas Partey in action at Atletico Madrid to know Arsenal are on to a winner here.

The Ghana international is both a telepathic reader of the game and a flawless technician in possession of the ball, so his presence here was something of a no-brainer.

It will be intriguing to see how his career develops in north London.

Central-midfield: Fred

Fred

Paul Pogba got the nod in our previous combined XI featuring United but it was difficult to ignore Fred's display in the Champions League this week.

The combative Brazilian's time at United has been something of a slow burner, with inconsistency plaguing the early phase of his stint, but he's now firmly a part of the Old Trafford furniture.

Whether he's scuttling across the turf to retrieve possession or looking to dissect a forward-thinking pass, Fred conducts himself with confidence and a smattering of panache.

The fact he is left-footed also gives him an advantage here in partnership with the right-footed Partey.

Attacking-midfield: Bruno Fernandes

Bruno

Say no more.

Bruno Fernandes has picked up where he left off last season by notching four goals and providing four assists from just eight appearances in all-competitions.

The real deal in between the lines of midfield and attack, Fernandes is quickly establishing himself as one of the world's best in his position.

Centre-forward: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Auba

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may not have started the season in the prolific vein we've come to expect from him, but there's no doubt he warrants his position here.

The Gabon international has 55 goals and 13 assists from 91 Premier League appearances despite often playing from the left rather than through the middle.

A natural goal machine with an appetite for creativity in the final-third, this was a comfortable selection to make.

Centre-forward: Marcus Rashford

Rashford

Where to start with Marcus Rashford? What eulogy could possibly do his recent achievements justice?

Not only has he spearheaded a near full-scale revolution in England, uniting an entire country and myriad businesses together in a bid to end child poverty, he's managed to juggle that gargantuan responsibility with his professional football career. For a 22-year-old, there are no words that can do justice to the scale of his political impact.

Rashford scored the quickest ever Champions League hat-trick scored by a substitute in the history of the competition in midweek, which was also his first for United.

Another selection that was never, ever in doubt.
