Dimitar Ivanov Berbatov, a player who embodied the phrase 'the beautiful game' and made football look annoyingly easy.

Blessed with a first touch fit for a footballing emperor, the Bulgarian striker dazzled fans across England during his eight years in the Premier League.

Berbatov first rose to fame on English shores with Tottenham Hotspur, his performances in north London helping to secure a £30.75m move to Manchester United.

The going was slightly tougher for the elegant forward at Old Trafford, as he was no longer the big fish in a small(er) pond.

But in 2010/11, Berbatov went from a spare part under Alex Ferguson to the best striker on the planet, cementing his status as a United fan favourite in the process.

Berbatov with the Premier League trophy

So for this week's edition of 'The Streets Won't Forget', we're going to reminisce about the seven-time Bulgarian Footballer of the Year's finest moments from that iconic campaign.

From a match-winning hat-trick against bitter rivals Liverpool, to a five-goal haul against Blackburn Rovers, Berbatov's displays were pivotal to securing Sir Alex Ferguson his penultimate Premier League title.

Berbatov's memorable 2010/11

So let's get straight to the all-important numbers. In his 32 league appearances for United in 2010/11, 'The Iceman' scored 20 goals, winning the coveted Golden Boot in the process.

Berbatov in action

Berbatov scored three hat-tricks during the 2010/11 campaign, against the aforementioned Liverpool and Blackburn, as well as a treble against Birmingham City.

All three were of the highest order, but the now 39-year-old's heroics against Liverpool really stand out.

Why you ask? Because one of the goals was a stupendous overhead kick to make it 2-0 on the day, a strike deep-fried in the oil of composure and world-class technique.

You can watch the highlights from Berbatov's masterclass versus Liverpool below.

Match-winning displays don't come much better. The Bulgarian had it all, elegance with the ball at his feet and brute power in the air, a deadly combination.

Berbatov's virtuoso display against Liverpool was undoubtedly his best in the famous red shirt, but it was far from his most profitable during the 2010/11 season.

As we previously mentioned, 'The Iceman' rippled the net five times in a 7-1 win over Blackburn, becoming the first non-English player in Premier League history to score a quintet of goals in one game.

For your viewing pleasure on this Saturday morning, all five of Berbatov's strikes can be watched in the video below.

How does a guy who looks as if he's taking a leisurely stroll in the park demolish a Premier League defence like that?! They don't make players quite like Berbatov anymore.

Like Dennis Bergkamp and Zinedine Zidane, the languid striker just always had space and time when on the ball, never was he rushed into making a decision.

When fans wax lyrical about great United strikers of yesteryear, it's criminal that Berbatov isn't one of the focal points of conversation.

Robin van Persie's one year of brilliance with the Red Devils is constantly eulogised, so why isn't the Bulgarian?

Berbatov with United

It's rather bizarre, but while Berbatov's 2010/11 season has been pushed to the back of many minds, the streets will forever pay homage to the brief period when he was the best striker in the world.
