Man Utd legend Ryan Giggs reportedly arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend

Manchester United legend and Wales manager Ryan Giggs has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, Kate Greville, according to The Sun.

The tabloid claims that police were called to Giggs’ £1.7 million property after 10pm on Sunday evening upon reports of ‘a disturbance’.

It’s claimed that the former Premier League hero was questioned on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman is quoted as saying: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.

“A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

Police reportedly confirmed that the arrested man had been released on bail pending further enquiries with Giggs emerging from Pendleton police station after hours of questioning.

Giggs and Greville

It’s noted that Giggs had been at Hotel Football, which he co-owns, earlier in the day to watch United‘s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, before moving to the Stock Exchange Hotel in the city centre.

Giggs has been dating Greville, who began PR work for Hotel Football seven years ago, on and off since 2017 with the relationship going public the following August.

The announcement came eight months after Giggs divorced his wife Stacey on whom he had been cheating for several years with brother Rhodri’s spouse Natasha.

Footballing career

The 46-year-old is currently in charge of the Welsh national football team, leading them to 12 victories and Euro 2020 qualification across his 24 games at the helm.

His move into management comes after a lucrative playing career, establishing himself as one of the greatest players in Premier League history with a record number of appearances and assists.

Giggs turned out 963 times for United and boasts a trophy cabinet that includes 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies and 16 domestic honours.
