Chelsea have big hopes for the season ahead.

After a massive summer of spending it was only natural that the Blues would be looking to mount a serious title challenge this term.

It seems that they could be on the cusp of doing that.

Frank Lampard's side have lost just one game so far this term - an away clash to current champions Liverpool.

But their recent form has showed that they seem to be the real deal.

While seventh in the table at present, Chelsea are just four points from the top of the table and on current form they certainly look capable of maintaining their impressive start.

Clean sheets in five of their last six games in all competitions shows that the club's solid foundation will make them hard to beat.

Add that to their attacking talent and you can see why they have what it takes.

However it seems that they may need to kick on without one of their key players in Christian Pulisic.

Reports from the Daily Star have claimed that the American is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury.

Pulisic pulled out of the 3-0 victory over Burnley in the warm-up at the weekend after suffering tightness.

A hamstring injury could see him ruled out for a number of months, but according to Lampard, the hope is that things aren't that serious.

Speaking at the weekend, Lampard said: "He’s played three games, we’ve tried to manage him in the week and it’s a small feeling in his hamstring so we’ll have to see how he is over the next 24 hours.

"It’s a minor feeling that he had but definitely not right to go into 90 minutes of a game with that.

"Hopefully it’s short term, we’re talking weeks.

"He’s frustrated because he’s worked so hard to get fit."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is a real shame for Christian Pulisic.

The American has already showed exactly what he can offer Frank Lampard and Chelsea this season.

Unfortunately his injury record is holding him back.

Pulisic isn't getting the rub of the green at the moment and this injury is just the latest in a run of bad luck.

Hopefully for him he can put this injury behind him and show what he's capable of this season.

Otherwise he risks being pushed down the pecking order by Chelsea's other attacking talents.
