Adams under consideration for job

Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt is willing to consider former boss Micky Adams for the current vacancy at the club.

Adams, 49, was sacked by relegated Sheffield United on Tuesday little more than four months after quitting his post at Vale Park to take charge of his hometown club.

Vale chairman Bill Bratt told The Sentinel: "We're looking for a manager, so if he applies for the job he certainly won't be turned away."

He added: "We would look at it seriously, but it would also depend on things like terms and conditions. Of course Micky may not want to come back to the Vale, or he may want to take a rest because he's had a traumatic time at Sheffield United.

"There's no big rush to appoint a new manager at the moment, but it's an interesting development because he's now on the market."

Former Brighton, Coventry and Leicester manager Adams spent 18 months at Vale, who appeared on course for promotion when he left the club in December, but under Jim Gannon and then caretaker-boss Mark Grew they slipped out of the play-off reckoning and finished 11th in the table.
