Football League newcomers Crawley are interested in signing Crewe striker Clayton Donaldson.

The ambitious West Sussex side have been tracking Donaldson, dubbed 'Donaldinho' by the Gresty Road faithful, who finished the season as the top scorer in League Two with 28 goals. His future appears uncertain as he is out of contract in the summer and has been offered a new deal but he has yet to sign.

"He is a player we like," Crawley manager Steve Evans told the Kent and Sussex Courier.

"We have been tracking him, but to be fair there will be a lot of clubs who want him as he is a top striker who has proved himself this season."
