Leeds United have enjoyed a decent start to the new season. After securing promotion from the Championship last term few would have imagined how the Whites would adapt to life in the Premier League.Thankfully for supporters there was very little to worry about.A tally of 10 points from seven games has put Leeds safely into a mid-table position - a spot that they'd no doubt be delighted to maintain over the course of the season. But with a tricky run of fixtures coming up it could be a tough time for Marcelo Bielsa's side.Monday night's defeat to Leicester City was a grounding experience, while this weekend will see them take on Crystal Palace.Unfortunately Leeds are set to be without one key man in the shape of Rodrigo. The new signing took to Instagram to confirm that he'd tested positive for COVID-19 and will now undertake a period of self-isolation.

Taking to Instagram, Rodrigo said: "Hi everyone.

“Unfortunately I have tested positive for COVID-19 after being in contact with a family member that had been infected without us knowing.

“As per the protocol I will be self-isolating and will miss the game with Crystal Palace.

“Both my family and I feel great, we are lucky enough to feel healthy and we are keeping a positive attitude.

“From home I will support Leeds and the Spanish National Team as a supporter and I will be back on the pitch soon.

“Thank you for all those who have showed concern."

Noel Whelan discussed the situation with Rodrigo and described his absence this weekend as 'disappointing'.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said: "We have got a problem with Rodrigo.

"He is not going to be available for Saturday against Crystal Palace and that is a huge loss.

“He was just getting going at Leeds, finding that form. That is disappointing not to be able to call on him.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is a real blow for Leeds United.

While many players have been impressive for the Whites this term, Rodrigo has really settled into life at Elland Road well.

Slotting into the number 10 role behind Patrick Bamford, the former Valencia man has looked impressive as part of Marcelo Bielsa's system.

Crystal Palace will be a big test for Leeds who will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Whether this injury will prove to be decisive in the outcome of this game, however, remains to be seen.
