Jose Mourinho will be thrilled with Tottenham Hotspur's start to the season.

After such a disappointing campaign last time out the supporters of the north London club were hoping for an improvement this time around.

Well, they've certainly got that.

A total of 14 points from seven games so far has represented an excellent start to the season and sees Spurs sit in third place at this early stage of the campaign.

Of course there's much of the season left, but it's been a good start.

Much of their early season form has been down to the wonderful additions in the summer transfer market.

Deals to bring in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart, Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Carlos Vinicius and Joe Rodon were completed, and that's seen Tottenham looking a lot more competitive in the upper echelons of the table.

But there's still work to be done.

Tottenham will be looking to the market again in the future as they continue to build Mourinho's squad into title challengers.

Based on a report by 90min.com, they may have another target in mind.

It's claimed that Spurs are interested in Orbelin Pineda.

The Cruz Azul winger is regarded as one of the top talents in Mexico at present and is attracting the attention of numerous clubs in the Premier League.

They include Arsenal, Tottenham, Wolves, Everton, Southampton, Newcastle and West Ham. It's also claimed that Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Porto and Monaco are keen.

The 24-year-old almost completed a move to Manchester City in 2016 but rejected the opportunity to head for Europe.

However now he might be more open to a deal.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is an interesting one.

Orbelin Pineda is a player with a big reputation in Mexico and that's why he's so highly-rated.

Whether Tottenham will make a move, however, remains to be seen.

Spurs have a number of options on the wing and that means that a deal to bring in Pineda may not be a priority.

Never say never, but as far as a move to north London is concerned it seems unlikely.
