Welcome to GiveMeSport's third instalment of the Brits Abroad feature, which brings you right up to speed with how all 19 British players are performing in Europe's top four leagues. 

This week saw a former Arsenal prodigy score the winning goal on his first start of the season while another Gunners product broke a club record and earned an international call-up in the space of just a few days.

Elsewhere, an experienced England international played his way into the Serie A team of the week. 

Take a look at how the British contingent fared on the continent in the past seven days...

BUNDESLIGA:

Reece Oxford - Augsburg

Another disappointing week for the former West Ham trainee.

Reece Oxford was an unused substitute for the third consecutive Bundesliga fixture as Augsburg returned to winning ways at home to Mainz. 

Fellow holding midfielder Rani Khedira, brother of Sami Khedira, was dropped to the bench for the first league game this season and was also an unused substitute. 

There is plenty of competition for the anchor role in Augsburg's midfield.

It could be a long season for Oxford. 

Ryan Sessengon - Hoffenheim

Ryan Sessegnon has endured a tough week both on and off the field. 

The Spurs loanee made his first Bundesliga start on Monday evening in a 3-1 home defeat against Union Berlin, but the game was fraught with difficulty for the hosts. 

Hoffenheim's sparsity of defensive options were put to the test when Stefan Posch was forced off through injury in the 34th minute. The attacking-minded winger Robert Skov was sent on in his place and Sessegnon dropped from left-wing-back to centre-back. 

But the 20-year-old's first start has been overshadowed by the abhorrent racist abuse he has since received on social media. 

Sessegnon shared screenshots of some of the messages he's received via his Instagram story.

“Honestly unbelievable. The craziest thing is I’m not even surprised anymore. Disgusting,” Sessegnon wrote on Instagram, while both Spurs and Hoffenheim quickly condemned the abuse in a show of support for the youngster.

Jadon Sancho - Borussia Dortmund

Fresh from his Champions League goal last week, Jadon Sancho was up to his usual tricks in the Bundesliga at the weekend. 

The 20-year-old sensation added his third league assist of the campaign by planting a corner onto Mats Hummels' right boot as the German centre-back scored his first of two on the day with a scrappy finish at the back post. 

Sancho now has two goals and four assists from eight games this season and will be hoping to add to his tally when Dortmund face Club Brugge in the Champions League tonight. 

Jude Bellingham - Borussia Dortmund

Lucien Favre restored Jude Bellingham to the starting XI on Saturday as the teenager lined up alongside Thomas Delaney in central midfield.

It was his first Bundesliga start since early October and he certainly capitalised on his opportunity to impress.

Per Sofascore, the midfielder became the youngest player in Europe's top five leagues to register 125 touches and complete 94 passes in a single outing since they started collecting data in the 2015/16 season.

His impressive performance consolidated the feeling that Bellingham has settled into life in Germany with seamless ease and exceptional maturity. 

Away from the field, meanwhile, Bellingham spoke to the British media via Zoom and delivered an insight into the mind of a 17-year-old who left his home country behind in the midst of a global pandemic to pursue a career at the apex of European football. 

Bellingham spoke of his motivation to move to Dortmund, his inability to cook for himself and his goal machine father's non-league football career amongst other things, per Guardian.

Clinton Mola - Stuttgart

Clinton Mola remains sidelined with a hip injury, and it's unclear when he'll be back in action for Stuttgart. 

Jamal Musiala - Bayern Munich

It's been a much quieter week for Jamal Musiala this time round. 

Musiala was an unused substitute in Bayern's 2-1 win away at Koln on Saturday and was sent on in stoppage time against RB Leipzig with the game already dead and buried at 5-2 to the German giants. 

That the 17-year-old is even involved in the Champions League winners' squad this season, however, underlines what the future has in store for the former Chelsea youngster.

Rabbi Matondo - Schalke

Rabbi Matondo was dropped back to the substitutes bench once again on Friday night having played 71 minutes against Dortmund in the previous week. 

Schalke scraped just their second point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Stuttgart, though the Wales international had no part to play in proceedings. 

SERIE A:

Chris Smalling - Roma

Having played his first 57 minutes of football since re-signing for the club in the Europa League last week, Chris Smalling went one better in Serie A at the weekend. 

Paulo Foncesca put Smalling into his starting XI for Roma's home clash with Fiorentina and it clearly had the desired effect. 

The Italian capital outfit kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win and Smalling earned his placed in Whoscored's Serie A Team of the Week following the type of accomplished display that has typified his time in Italy.

Smalling made two tackles, two interceptions and two clearances and completed 92.5% of his completed passes during the game, providing instant vindication for Roma's decision to turn his loan deal into a permanent one.

Ronaldo Vieira - Hellas Verona

Ronaldo Vieira scored his first goal for Hellas Verona in a Copa Italia thriller last week. 

Ivan Juric's side were on brink of heading out of the competition in extra-time when Serie B outfit Venezia took a 3-2 lead, but Vieira popped up with an equaliser in the 110th minute to take the game to penalty shoot out, which Hellas Verona eventually won 6-4.

However, Vieira was absent from the side that beat Benevento 3-1 in Serie A on Monday night due to a muscle injury. 

Ashley Young - Inter Milan

Ashley Young returned to Serie A action at the weekend with a 12 minute cameo against Parma. 

The 35-year-old veteran did earn a place in the starting XI for Inter Milan's Champions League clash with Real Madrid, however, playing all 90 minutes in a left-wing-back role as the Nerazzurri lost 3-2 in the Spanish capital.

Aaron Hickey - Bologna

Bologna continued to show their faith in Aaron Hickey on Saturday as he started his fifth consecutive Serie A game at left-back. 

Hickey was pitted against Nahitan Nandez, a talented midfielder with 33 Uruguay caps, in what was undoubtedly a tough test for the youngster. 

But Bologna emerged with a 3-2 win, earning three points for the first time since matchday one.

The 18-year-old prodigy also earned his first call-up to the Scotland U21 squad last week ahead of their upcoming games against Croatia and Greece.

Another week of progress for a player who's showing that the Bundesliga isn't the only place for British youngsters to carve their careers. 

Aaron Ramsey - Juventus

The early season faith Andre Pirlo showed in Aaron Ramsey has subsided just a touch of late. 

Ramsey's poor display vs Hellas Verona on 25 October cost him his place in the XI that faced Barcelona last week, and he was once again named on the bench for Juventus' clash with Spezia on Sunday. 

The Wales international did come on for the final 28 minutes but there was little to write home about as the Old Lady cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory.

LA LIGA:

Kieran Trippier - Atletico Madrid

There was an unlikely north London connection in La Liga last Saturday.

With Atletico Madrid closing in on a 2-1 victory, Kieran Trippier planted a delightful ball into the path of the onrushing Lucas Torreria, who has joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal, and the Uruguayan finished the opportunity with conviction, slamming the ball into the roof of the net to secure the points. 

It was the former Spurs star's first assist of the season but he couldn't exercise any more of his creative instincts against Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday as the Spanish giants drew 1-1 on matchday three.

Yunus Musah - Valencia

Yunus Musah's latest achievement actually threatens his place on this list altogether. 

The 17-year-old's exceptional form at Valencia this season has earned him a spot in the USA national squad to face Wales next week, despite the fact he has already represented England at U15, U16, U17 and U18 level.

FIFA rules state that it is possible for players to switch allegiances after playing in friendly fixtures, so the call-up is by no means terminal for his chances of turning out for the Three Lions.

However, USA's decision to select him now puts pressure on Gareth Southgate and co. to bring Musah into the fold before it's too late.

The call-up arrived just days after Musah bagged his first goal for Valencia during a 2-2 draw with Getafe, becoming the club's youngest goal scorer this century in the process.

Musah galloped the best part of 50-yards with the ball at his feet before sending David Soria the wrong way with a dead-eyed, composed finish.

If they weren't already on high alert, the powers that be at the England national team will be monitoring his situation with acute interest in the coming weeks.

LIGUE 1:

Jonathan Panzo - Dijon

Dijon remain winless following their 0-0 draw with Lorient but Jonathan Panzo will be delighted that his side recorded their first clean sheet of the season. 

The 20-year-old centre-back started his 7th consecutive Ligue 1 outing and recorded one tackle, one interception, one block and six clearances in a commanding display. 

Next stop, three points.

Trevoh Chalobah - Lorient

Trevoh Chalobah's outstanding pair of displays against Stade Reims and Marseille had made him one of the ones to watch on this list, but he was absent from the Lorient squad that drew with Dijon on Sunday. 

The combative midfielder failed a late fitness test and was ruled out to due a reported knee problem.

Judging by the tone of the news emerging from France, though, it seems like Chalobah is dealing with a short-term issue rather than a long-term one.

Stephy Mavididi - Montpellier

Finally, at long last, Stephy Mavididi got his first long-overdue start for Montpellier away at St-Etienne on Saturday. 

And what a game it was for the former Arsenal attacker.

Mavididi scored the only goal of the game in Montpellier's 1-0 victory as he curled a delightful effort into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the box after 14 minutes. 

It was the 20-year-old's second clinical finish in Ligue 1 this season and his contribution helped him to stay on the pitch for 77 minutes - his longest run out of the campaign.

Surely he's done enough to keep his place in the XI for Saturday's trip to Bordeaux. 

Mohamed Ali-Cho - Angers

Mohamed-Ali Cho was handed a six minute cameo in Angers' 3-0 home defeat to Nice on Saturday. 

Still without a start, it looks like Cho will have to be patient while waiting for opportunities. 

Fraser Hornby - Stade Reims

Following a three-game absence, Fraser Hornby finally returned to the Stade Reims squad at the weekend. 

The 21-year-old didn't manage to get onto the pitch during his side's 2-1 victory over Strasbourg but his return to the 20-man squad was a step in the right direction. 

Given David Guion had three forwards on the substitutes bench, Hornby's struggle for game time is probably a reflection on the club's strength in depth rather than an ominous sign of his inability to thrive at this level.
